Fox Meadow is, by far, my favorite area winery. The property and tasting room are gorgeous. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming. The wines are very good and not ridiculously overpriced. The Le Renard Rouge is my favorite--one of my favorite things to do is sneak away to Fox Meadow on a weekday and enjoy a bottle on the deck with my husband. When we have brought our two-year-old along, the staff has always been welcoming of him as well.
Fox Meadow's wine club also gets two thumbs up, especially for the two free tastings every visit. They frequently have well-thought-out special events, like fudge/wine pairings or black glass tastings, and there's always music on the weekends. Fox Meadow is an all around fantastic Virginia winery!
Also: We were recently advised that aging a bottle of wine much beyond five years was a bit pointless and perhaps even dangerous, in that even if stored properly, corks can deteriorate and wine sour. So last night we opened a seven-year old bottle of Fox Meadow cabernet franc and without fanfare served it to two wine-knowledgeable guests. Without a word of prompting, each expressed their astonishment at just how good was that wine! We were not serving any food at all--simply the wine, so there was no pairing. But that cab franc was one of the best wines we've ever had. We can only recall an Oregon pinot noir from Witness Tree Winery north of Salem that even came close. I suspect the 2010 vintage will age just as well as the 2005--if we can leave it alone long enough! ~Lyn & Diane Gubser, Alexandria, VA~
So our trip to Virginia started at 4 am and after 11 hours in the car we decided to stop at a winery, go figure, before going to our hotel. We used the Garmin to pull up a list of wineries that were close and decided on Fox Meadow Winery. Following the Garmin’s directions we wound our way up a mountain to a beautiful winery called Fox Meadow. If the wines were as good as the setting for the winery we were going to be in for a treat! The fourth wine was their reserve Cabernet Franc which spent 18 months in French oak. Cabernet Franc is one of our favorite wines and we found this one to be right up at the top. With a great nose and flavor we were impressed! If you want to be stunned by the view and the wine we would highly recommend Fox Meadow Winery!

We visited this winery and it was a favorite. You can have a lot of great wine and people but this view is priceless. Rolling misty hills of Virginia while you sip delicious wine, with cheese and crackers on the deck! Nice, knowledgeable people to help you sort thru the wine list.
"I just wanted to take a quick moment to say thank you to you both! I attended the holiday party with my fiancée,….and friends who are also FOF members. We intended on picking up our last wine shipment and perhaps have a glass of wine. Instead, Carol (who we all love!) invited us to have a tasting, since it had been springtime since we had one and invited us to try all the goodies you provided. We ended up sharing more than just a glass and spent a good four hours just talking, laughing and all in all having a wonderful Sunday afternoon with fine company!
Another reason why Fox Meadow is rapidly becoming "THE CLASS" of local wineries.”
“I wanted to let you know I was with a group that came in this past weekend. Your winery is well run and the gentleman and lady who provided the tasting did a very nice job. Including food pairings was a nice addition to the tasting and our group really enjoyed that as well.
We visited a second a winery that afternoon, which truly made the point of not only the quality of wine you have, but the quality of the experience as well!!”
